Boys Cabin 2 Update 3

Today we went into the wilderness a bit with boys cabin 5 as you can tell from my father’s post above. Obstacle courses are always fun until someone gets hurt. The courses we went through were more challenges of mentality than of physical strength. They required everyone to work together as a team.
The cargo net required everyone to remain linked together while everyone got across. Heaven’s Gate was a flat wall where we had to work as a team to lift and pull everyone up and over it. Mohawk Walk was a tight rope challenge where we had to help everyone across by using ourselves as a chain.
Everything we learned today was about coming together as one; it’s great to be able to learn valuable lessons and have a blast at the same time x)

Hey World!

Boy’s 5 & 2 just finished their special activity Low Ropes. They were able to complete two items; Cargo Net & Heaven’s Gate, fortunately everyone got through Heaven’s Gate! We even had time to try the Mohawk Walk.
Last nite we had a baptism. What can be said? When someone commits their life to Jesus Christ and has come to know Him…words are not enough.
Listen to your Hearts!
Love, Boy’s 5

Girls Cabin #7 Update

Hey everyone! Karen and Ashley here again. We are having an amazing week, but it is going by sooooo quickly! Ha ha, we keep asking God to make the week go slower so we have more time to bond with each other and learn about God. Since our last update, we have had a new addition to our cabin, Ashley Butler! We are so excited that she is finally here. We have also finally put up our Christmas lights and the girls are really happy about it. Everyone seems to be enjoying their week here. We sure are!!  All of our girls are doing their memory work (even in Spanish!!) All the activities seem to be going really well. Our cabin just completed its second round of the ropes course. It is definitely a great team building activity! So that’s all for now…Hope you all are having a great week with out your kids running around—we are really loving the time we’ve been spending with each and everyone of them! Thank you for letting them come to this wonderful place!

Boys Cabin 2 Update 2

Last night was the second time we were competing for the Bible Game Show and we came in second place during out round. We also had the Talent Show which as usual was extremely gross for some people. Boys Cabin 4 did the toothpaste skit this year which was crazy. Our cabin came up with an idea to do a twist on the show Fear Factor. The campers asked the cooking staff in advance to prepare 2 gross dishes for 5 of us. Nate, Logan and Brandon hosted the show while Chadd, Phil, Tim, Aaron and I ate concoctions of chili, radish, mustard, pizza combo pretzels, sauerkraut and much, much more. After our stomachs all settled we calmed down and had a pretty nice devotional in which the campers got involved. This week seems like it’s almost over but we’re only half way through it and it can only get better!

More From Boys 5

What can be said about a week at camp Manatawny other then it is wonderful. I can’t even begin to use words to describe what is happening. The kids are asking us REAL questions like: when was God born? How did the American Indians learn about God?
Good stuff! Yesterday was jam packed with activities and today will be no less. God has given us beautiful weather…we will be having a full moon tonite @ campfire. The sky is so blue and the clouds are beautiful as are your children. They are made in His image and we can see that.
Boy’s Cabin 5 won the ultimate Frisbee tourney yesterday, did some awesome talent show skits and had over 30 boys…let me correct that and say…MEN in our cabin for some free time wrestling, mattresses on the floor, flashlights on the wrestlers…shirts off!
It was rock-n-roll!
Hope everyone is ok out there….here in the real world life is good. We are praising God and singing His praises everyday. We went into this week saying it would be the best week of our lives….and it is.

Precamper Update

I like my teacher and my Bible class. I like when my teacher takes me swimming.

Hannah Fay (pre-camper)

Boys 2

This week has been nothing but excitement since the campers arrived Saturday morning! Our cabin consists of Chadd, Brandon, Phil, Tim, Aaron and Logan. Nate and I have been having a great time with the boys and it has been an amazing few days just getting to know them. We almost won the Bible Game Show session last night and have been doing our memory verses daily. Today is the first test on the Bible Classes and I believe they will do great. Tomorrow I will write more specifically on the events we are doing for the rest of the week. Have a great day!
-Sean

Boys 4

Hey everybody, camp is going great, and we are all having a blast! Freddy, Tyson, Brett, T-Bone, Staminto and Kiefer are all doing very well with there bible verses and are really seeking the truth. Keep us in your prayers and we will see you at the end of the week.
-Brandon

A Note from a Director:

Hello World ! The sun is shining here at Intermediate 2 and so is the SON ! The campers are doing a great job of understanding the ONEness they share with God and Jesus. They are having a LOT of fun and learning so much about our God and His plan for them. We put out a challenge for each cabin this week for memory work. If each camper and counselor in a cabin says at least 6 memory verses, they will get to be part of a big ice cream party after campfire on Friday night. The campers are working hard to do that and are making sure the counselors hold up their end of the deal. It has been great to see.

We are talking about ONE this week and how we all can be ONE with God thru His Son – Jesus Christ. We have already had a day dedicated to the power and strength that is ONE God. Today we are learning and playing to understand that we have ONE Lord who is the only path to that ONE God and that Jesus is the only Lord we will ever need.

Parents – thank you so much for sending your children here this week. We are blessed to be with them.

We will see you all on Saturday !

Boys 5

Boys 5 I just finished emptying the sand out of my shoes. We just completed athletics. TUG-O-WAR! Boys 8 took the tournament with Boys 4 taking 2nd. After all was said and done we had staff vs. campers. Only Boys…gilrs were in pool. The staff had to incorporate every living and breathing staff person to be able to win. It was insane. Truly insane. This is the best week of our lives. Everybody is praising God and showing a Christ-like attitude. Boys 5 (Mike, BJ, Dale, Alex, Chris, Kyle and me (Tate) are loving life like never before!

Girls 3 & 8

Girls 6

Hello! Girls Cabin 6 is doing great! We’re having a great time getting to know each other and we’re getting closer and closer each day.
Johnna has been doing great on her memory work. As of yesterday, the first day, she had

Kelsey has been keeping us all smiling with her great attitude. She’s having a lot of fun and is always laughing and smiling.

Claire has been enjoying her Bible classes. She’s also been a little less shy and is doing great getting to know everybody. She’s doing really well with athletics and other activities.

Shonda is a great shining light for our cabin. She’s always smiling and having fun, even though she doesn’t want to get out of bed in the morning, but who does?!

Last but definitely not least, Jamie has been having a great week as well. She’s doing really well in athletics, placing in the freestyle competition.

We’re trying to figure out what we want to do for the talent show. We’re not sure yet, but we’ll be sure to post about it. Our cabin has also been invaded by sheep – our first night we went looking for a lost sheep and the girls learned a little bit about Jesus’s parable – how important each and every one of us is to Him. Luckily, we found the lost sheep. He was only hiding in the cabin desk.

We’ll post more as the week goes on. Everybody is having a great time and I’m sure the girls can’t wait to tell you all about it when they get home. God is really working through this week at Camp Manatawny.
In Him,
Debra Peris and Sarah Whitehouse

Girls 10

Hey all you Blog-readers! This is April Yoder, counselor in Girl’s Cabin 10! The girls in my cabin include Jocelyn Carr, Adara Graciani, Becky Lybik, Rachael Ritchie, Angel Robinson, and Devin “Dee” Rowe. Some exciting news: On Sunday in the girl’s second Bible class for the day, they all did so well that the whole cabin received Daily Bible Awards for their participation!! Plus the Bible teacher came up to me and personally told me how great they all were and how good their discussion was during class. The directors and Bible teachers this week challenged all of us in the cabins to learn Bible Memory Work for the week. There are 12 verses and if each person in the cabin plus the counselor learns 6 or more verses by Friday, then that cabin will be rewarded with an ice cream party Friday night. Our cabin has decided to go for it! Some have more verses done than others but at least everyone in the cabin has learned Phil. 4:13 I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.
Some personal notes:
Jocelyn-She received an athletic award on Sunday night
Devin- Although she claimed she couldn’t learn memory verses, she’s on her way to contributing to the cabin ice cream party
Adara- At first said she wouldn’t do any memory work and as of Sunday evening already had SEVEN memorized!
Becky- Is always willing to help and encourage others, she’s also doing a great job on her memory work
Rachael- Always contributes to the cabin devotionals in the evening and asks questions to help get everyone thinking
Angel- Striving to get 100% on all 12 memory verses and she already knows 9 of them as of Sunday evening. She’s planning on getting the rest done tonight (Mon)

Well that’s all for now. I’ll be back with more excitement from G-10 in the days to come here at Manatawny! God bless!
Love,
April

Girls Cabin 7

Hey everyone! This is Karen and Ashley-counselors of cabin 7! We are having an awesome week so far. Our girls are absolutely wonderful; Devon, Heidy, Raina, and Xuhey. That’s it for today, we’ll post more later in the week!

God is good….
ALL the time J

Day 1

We apologize for the delay in getting info out to our blog. We’ve been having some technical difficulties with Internet service up here at Camp, but we think we’ve devised a workaround that will enable us to post messages once or twice a day. Please keep checking back for updates!

Our week got off to a fantastic start yesterday! God has blessed us with 97 wonderful Campers, and we’ve all been getting to know each other. Our theme for the week is “One,” from Ephesians 4:1-6. Yesterday they were introduced to the theme, and led through some icebreaker activities that emphasized our importance to God as individuals—but also our value to God as members of a greater community, the church. These messages will be reinforced all week in our chapel times and our Bible classes, as well as during our daily theme activities.

The counselors report that their cabin devotionals after lights-out last night were really exceptional. The kids are opening up, and asking great questions about spiritual things. One young lady was baptized last night—Kailey Swenson. She had been studying the Bible with some folks at home, and decided she was ready to commit her life to the Lord. Her father was able to baptize her last evening at the pool, with the whole Camp looking on. Our prayer is that God will continue to work on the hearts of these young people.

We continue to be dazzled by the talent and the work ethic of our staff. They are true servants who love God. Your children are in great hands!

That’s all for now. We’ll try to get updates out here as often as possible—please be patient with us! And please continue to pray for our week, that God will continue to work powerfully here—as he always does.

On behalf of the Directors,
Jeff Werkheiser
